On Friday mornings Rooms 4, 5 and 6 get together for discovery. We focus on the key competencies which are skills we need for life. They are managing self, participating and contributing, thinking, using language, symbols and texts and relating to others. We are exploring performance arts at the moment. This week is the prop making. Check out our creative skills .
On Wednesday the 31st of August Room's 1, 7, 4 and 6 went on a trip to explore our local taonga (treasures). We began our bus trip by driving to the top of Princes drive to look out over the Boulder Bank, Fifeshire Rock and Haulashore Island. We then drove out the the start of the Boulder Bank at Glenduan where we had morning tea and heard the story of how the Boulder Bank was formed. Next we drove to Sewer Side Drive and went for a short walk along the Boulder Bank. Our next stop was Tahunanui beach for lunch and then an explore down the beach to see what we could see in the rock pools. We had a fantastic day and we were all very tired at the end of it! Thank you very much to the parents, grandparents and helpers who came along. On Friday the 20th of May we had a mufti day to raise money for the Make A Wish foundation.
We had to dress up as what we wished to be. This week was our assembly and we wrote the whole thing ourselves!
Assembly takes a lot of time so we didn't get a lot else done this week but we pulled our assembly off like pro's! We sang and played the ukelele for two songs; One day a taniwha and 3 little birds. We shared our portrait art. We were going to read the big book "The Ant and the Grasshoppers", but we ran out of time! Thanks to everyone who came and watched. |
